With the main river in lovely condition at the moment, one or two anglers have been making a cast here and there. This week has seen a lovely sea-liced sea trout of just under 3lb caught by David Pilkington and a sea-liced spring salmon of around 8lb by Tim Smith. Both fish were caught on size 4 single sea trout flies. After perpetual cold weather, the trout are starting to provide some decent sport, with a few local anglers making the most of it. Gold head nymphs are still taking the lion's share, although good hatches of grannom and large dark olives will see the dry flies seeing some action.
